Ahh, Florida

Well, we had an awesome time in Destin. Thank you so much to my in-laws for allowing us use of the house for the week. It makes a world of difference on vacation with two kids to have access to both a fully-stocked kitchen and a washer/dryer. Not to mention not having to pay for a hotel room for a week-long stay.

We discovered that Alex does NOT like the beach (the ocean freaked him out) and confirmed that Grace LOVES it (Jim took her out swimming in the waves - of course I was not able to hold her correctly when I took her out). But Alex does love the swimming pool (and the bathtub) so we know he's not totally against the water.

Grace got to feed the ducks, turtles, and Bubba the 50-lb fish every evening. And since we didn't have access to Noggin (the preschool digital cable channel we watch at home) she got to discover Spongebob Squarepants who she now loves. Oh, and that freaky Nick Jr show Lazytown (this one gets its own post at a later date).

Our weather was great, but we came home a day earlier than planned to avoid the tropical storm. I'm actually still not sure if it ever developed into a hurricane, or even how severly the area was hit. But I feel good that we left when we did, because if we'd stayed until Saturday with our luck I'm sure things would have gotten bad.

Jim and I were discussing about how a vacation with two small kids could be hellish. But we have such great kids that the whole week (save for a couple of meltdowns) was just wonderful. Many pictures to be posted soon.

Welcome home! I missed you.

Just a few ideas relating to your posting. 1) Lazytown is too freaky for me. Joey loves it and has found a place online that he can play the theme songs over and over, ugggghhhh.

2)Max used to hate the beach at Alex's age, he hated the wind blowing in his face.

3)I think vacations with kids aren't as bad as you fear they will be because the kids have 100% access to two parents for an extended period, what could be better?

4)Emma and Grace are both beach girls, maybe they can vacation to Port A when they are both teenagers! Party!!!

What is it about Dads holding you in the ocean? I remember I would only let my Dad take me out to where I couldn't touch. I think it has to do with women's feeble arm strength. I'm glad you guys had a great trip, and are back home safe!

Spartucus-sp? Rules. What freaks ME out is that beedle bop show on Disney. And if you haven't seen the Spongebob Squarepants movie, you must do so now. It rocks.

Sportacus I can kind of handle - just a little annoying with the jumping and flipping around. It's Robbie Rotten that weirds me out with those facial prosthetics (at least I HOPE his chin isn't actually that big!). And don't get me started on the odd puppet people. I was telling Kathy that I noticed the show originates in Iceland - kind of explains some of the weirdness.

Yeah but don't you think that Stephanies hair rocks?? Remember when Gwen Stafani had hair that color?
